The Living by Water Project

I co-founded this project in 1998 with Clive Callaway. I am the primary author of On the Living Edge - Your Handbook for Waterfront Living. Over 22,000 copies of this book have been distributed across Canada, in editions for British Columbia (2002); Alberta (2002); Saskatchewan / Manitoba (2003); and Ontario (2003).

Most editions are now out of print; however, the BC edition of the book can be downloaded from this link: https://bcnature.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/On-the-Living-Edge_SM.pdf

The Alberta version is into its 3rd edition. It is still available, at  http://store.naturealberta.ca/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=69

The approach of the Living by Water Project was to help waterfront residents deal with the benefits and challenges of waterfront living. The material we produced was tip-oriented, and emphasized benefits.

Living by Water used what we termed a "conservation marketing" approach.  We prepared a manual that summarized much of our learning. It is available at
